In previous years, ralliers have been arrested for spying, been shot at, banned from Turkmenistan, ended up in hospital, rammed off the road and been stoned by nomads. We'll have no support team, no life-line, and only a vague idea of how a car works. Why embark on such a risky journey, one might ask?

Mongolia is a vast country, the size of Western Europe, but also the least densely populated place in the world. Nearly half the population live as nomads, with the majority under 30 years old, which has placed untold strain on the economy. Our taxi will be left in Mongolia to provide a roadworthy community vehicle, capable of getting children to school and people to proper medical care and services, bridging rural communities together. A third of the population live below the poverty line and the infant mortality rate is 8 times greater than the U.K’s.

We are aiming to do something to erode these figures, by raising money for Save the Children before we go, auctioning the taxi in Mongolia and donating the proceeds to the Children’s Development & Protection Fund. All donations are very much appreciated and can be made through Justgiving.
